Hi there,

Congrats on the final version of Avast 5.1. Sadly, the web shield bug it is still present. I am using Firefox 4 beta 8 and when the web shield is activated there is very noticeable slow down in web browsing. All settings are default and this is a new clean install, no upgrade. Previous AV was MSE 2 final, which unfortunately it is performing good but VERY CPU intensive and still has the bugs from the beta version. So, I moved away from it to Avast. I would appreciate if you can help me with my issues. Thanks in advance, Ivan K.

I recommend you use a firefox add on called Fasterfox.

I recommend using Firefox with no addons to debug problems first, then post something useful.
FYI I am using Firefox running in RAM, it does not get faster than that. If you don't know how is that done do a bit of research before posting.

unfortunately since beta 862 build
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=68494.msg576212#msg576212

i'm still missing "Scan with Avast! in Windows Explorer menu"
this applies for files and folder

installing new version via setup_av_free.exe not helped
is there any simple solution how re-enable this feature?

Dwarden, what do you see in

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers\avast    and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{472083B0-C522-11CF-8763-00608CC02F24}\InProcServer32

?

Thanks
Vlk

1st is missing completely

2nd seems to be there
"(Default)"==C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\ashShell.dll
"Release Name"==C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\ashShell.dll
"ThreadingModel"==Apartment

---

so fix for folters is simple re-added the
\avast\
then
"Default"=={472083B0-C522-11CF-8763-00608CC02F24}

but still missing it for files?

---
tho it would be nice Avast! can fix this self  too 8)

I just got the update internally on Vista Ultimate where I have no service packs installed (it is on a virtual machine with limited space).  My Windows Explorer context menu looks a bit strange for Avast.  It just says "scan xxx.exe". Nothing about Avast and the icon is weird looking.

Otherwise, it is working great! For the first time, Behavior Shield is working! :)

Happy New Year everyone.

Just updated Free 5.0.677 to 5.1.864, Win7 32-bit. Once update completed, I selected no at the restart dialog box which immediately killed all my downloads via Firefox 3.6.13. I was grabbing new DVICO BDA drivers from the very slow .kr site. Wasn't using a dload manager. Never done that before.

Hi, first post in the forum since there were no problems in the last 5 years using Avast.

After upgrading successfully to 5.1.864 and restarting, there was a BSOD stating "aswsp.sys attempted to access a non paged area".
Rebooted and same message again. Uninstalled Avast in safe mode, downloaded the full 5.1.864 installer, reinstalled (all went smooth), performed a quick scan with no problem and after rebooting again the same BSOD.
I had to revert back to 5.0.677 were there is no problem.

Do you still have the corresponding minidump files in C:\Windows\Minidump?
It would be useful to have them to check what went wrong...

The minidump was there and I renamed it to .txt in order to upload it. Please find it attached.

Could you please upload the minidump file to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming - the text transfer corrupts the file when attached as .txt to a post.
