Help! Avast found Win32: Rayman
« on: August 26, 2004, 03:30:51 AM »
Avast suddenly found Win32: Rayman.  I have searched on google and can't find much on it.  When I ask Avast to repair or delete nothing happens.  I scanned with another virus scanner and it finds nothing.  I am a little puzzled because the Standard Sheild was activated.  I just recently downloaded and installed X-Setup.  Could it be something included with that.

I got X-Setup and no possible infection is found. So that is not it. What file is detected as infected and what is the location of that file?

I find it odd that Avast identifies this as a virus but it has nothing about it on the website.

Hi,

here's some info-links on it:
VGREP

check if the descriptions match with your symptoms..

also answer eddy's questions please, and scan the file online with RAV, KAV & COD (see the link "VirusRemoval below in my sig)
Make sure that avast resident shield is PAUSED while you scan online

Quick question, why do you have to pause the standard shield to do an online scan, i never do when i scan with house call.

Hi lee,

that is only necessary if avast detects some malware in a specific file and you want to
a) test if it's a false alarm
b) or get some other/maybe more detailed virusnames for it

otherwise, avast shield will block the onlinescanners from accessing the file, and so they will report an error or even report it as Clean, even if it's not..
