Unfortunately no.
Avast 4 does not have a component or scanner that can run in dos (16 bit).

You could try out the dos version of avast.

Thanks. I've tried the download bellow >>
http://www.avast.com/i_idt_1344.html .
Is this an obsolete program ?

In the file Serial.txt there is this note >>
Please note: avast! home is now free of charge for home users on NON-PROFIT computers. You can find more info on our web pages:
http://www.asw.cz/avahome.htm
But is asked a registration key and avast77e doesn't work .
Regards ,rolando

Because some people prefer not to download a 300MB dos scanner.

I'd like to know if this Avast77 for Dos is still usable (and usefull!) and , if "yes", what  " registration key" is needed to use it.
Thanks a lot. Regards rolando.

PS- Is there a virus data base updated for this product ?

Ok....don't beat me up on this one!

As far as I know, Avast 7.7 is freeware.
You can register on the www.avast.com site under Registration to obtain a "key" which can be inserted when asked by the program.

I am not sure how "current" the program is.  Better to ask Avast Support team via email.

As for being usable and useful....it should be both.
Again, I do not know if any update is available for the 7.7 dos version.

Hopefully, one of the Avast Gurus will jump in on this thread, otherwise, contact Support at support@asw.cz

300 MB??? dos scanner??? are you kidding? Bart CD is not dos scanner, it is MUCH MUCH more! And the download size is "only" about 60 MB  ;)

I've tried Avast77e that seems to work fine. This product is updated and the Virus Database is updated very often ! You see an usefull cooperation between Avast!4 and Avast77e  to find/remove virus ? Many software houses use AV Dos to find virus in a Windows system (no matter the Win Version !?) .
Thanks a lot.
