When might we possibly see a beta version of 6.0?

avast! 5.1 (last stable version) was released a week and 1 day ago and you are already asking for the beta of 6.0? Chill out..  :)
Is gonna be huge but you need to wait like everyone else.
As far I know avast! 6.0 is coming soon..

Thanks Silk0. From time to time is good to read a "non-trouble" post :)

No need to thanks.. just telling the truth.
That's one of the reasons why I use avast!.. ;)

and what will be new in avast 6?
Hope that new design. I don't like this one. It looks bad. AVG's or ESET's design is cool!

I must say that Avast is GREAT but I am CONSIDERING LEAVING Avast as I have a few problems with it that NO ONE seems to be able to help me with.

The problems I have with 5.1.889 are:

I do a weekly scan and when I hold mouse cursor over the files that COULD NOT BE SCANNED, this is what it tells me:

1. C:/PROGRAMDATA/MFADATA/PACK/BINS/F10IDATX1153BS.BIN/>/DATA/>INTERNALLIST.ZIP/>INTERNALLIST.DAT
ERROR PASSWORD PROTECTED (42056)

2. . C:/PROGRAMDATA/MFADATA/PACK/BINS/F10IDATX1153BS.BIN/>/DATA/>INTERNALLIST.ZIP/>INFO.ENC
ERROR PASSWORD PROTECTED (42056)

3. C:/PROGRAMDATA/MFADATA/PACK/BINS/F10IDATX1153BS.BIN/>/DATA/>INTERNALLIST.ZIP/>V=258;L=LANGUAGEINDENDENT;T=3
ERROR PASSWORD PROTECTED (42056)

4. C:/PROGRAMDATA/MFADATA/PACK/BINS/F10IDATX1191NU.BIN/>/DATA/>INTERNALLIST.ZIP/>INTERNALLIST.DAT
ERROR PASSWORD PROTECTED (42056)

5. C:/PROGRAMDATA/MFADATA/PACK/BINS/F10IDATX1191NU.BIN/>/DATA/>INTERNALLIST.ZIP/>INFO.ENC
ERROR PASSWORD PROTECTED (42056)

6. C:/PROGRAMDATA/MFADATA/PACK/BINS/F10IDATX1191.BIN/>/DATA/>INTERNALLIST.ZIP/>V=260;L=LANGUAGEINDENDENT;T=3
ERROR PASSWORD PROTECTED (42056)

My question is why do I get this with Avast 5.1.889 and I never had anything like this when I used Avast 5.0?
Every time I scanned with any of the  Avast 5.0 programs the results I got were NO THREAT FOUND and no virus found not what is listed above.

I would be most greatful if anyone can answer this question, I have not added any programs, all I did was upgrade from 5.0.677 to 5.1.889.
Do I have a virus or not?

Thank you.

I tried to do this update.
Here is the message I have just sent to support.
Any ideas.

Have happily used Avast for several years.
Recently I was prompted to update to 5.1889.
Did this and worked OK till rebooted.
Then got error message 10032..
Webshield would not switch on, and pressing all the fix now, turn on buttons etc had no effect.
Since then I have tried uninstalling, [via add and remove, and the uninstall removal tool] and doing a clean download, using safe and normal modes, all with the same outcome.
I have also tried downloading the old version of Avast, but still the same error message.
Looking at forums reveals that lots of other people have a similar problem.
What's the magic answer?
I am now using Avira, but I did like Avast.

I must say that Avast is GREAT but I am CONSIDERING LEAVING Avast as I have a few problems with it that NO ONE seems to be able to help me with.

The problems I have with 5.1.889 are:
<snip>

First this isn't to topic to post this in it has nothing to do with the new build. Second I haven't seen you post this in another topic of 'your own,' viruses and worms or avast free/pro/ais forums, so how can anyone answer it/help you it isn't a problem. Not to mention a search for ERROR PASSWORD PROTECTED or COULD NOT BE SCANNED would no doubt have brought you an answer.

Files that can't be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.

Many programs (usually security based ones) password protect their files for legitimate reasons such as AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy, there are others (and avast doesn't know the password or have any way of using it even if it did know it).

When you run scans with the above programs and you delete harmful entries that they detect, a copy is kept (in quarantine/restore/backup) in case you need to reverse what you did. These are usually password protected, you should do some housekeeping and delete old backup/recovery/quarantine entries (older than two weeks or so), this will reduce the numbers of files that can't be scanned.

By examining 1) the reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 2) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.

Why you are wasting time scanning archives is another question as they are inert, until the files are extracted and run the contents of an archive present no danger and before that happens the file system shield should scan them (when they are no longer password protected).

Data on your system changes as windows updates, programs update, etc. etc. so there will be times like this which are totally unrelated to the build.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

happy avast user,

You have had an answer to this type of question before, from one of the avast! devs (to which there was no reply):
3. I look at shoe results and results are as follows:  Archive Password Protected
My question is why does this result come up in the new Avast 5.1.864 program and yet I never got this message in ANY of the 5.0 programs?

It's hardly connected to the program version, as the related functionality is fully inside of the virus definitions. Maybe some new files appeared on your disk?
Hard to say more without knowing (a few examples of) the filenames in question ;)

Those files, judging from what I have found by searching the folder MFADATA, seem to be connected to AVG somehow:

When might we possibly see a beta version of 6.0?

Its unbelievable how many torrent downloads there are of a supposed Avast 6.0

http://www.google.com/search?q=avast+6.0+beta&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Last time we started seeing something like that a new version was not far behind. Definitely would not go there to download security software.

LOL :)
