licence registation

the computer will not let me put the registration number in, it will not bring up the license key box when we get to that part. And it is already saying its regestered, but it is not. It shows on computer that the anti virus is not working right now, and my computer is at risk. Thank you, please get back

Please provide more background information.
What version of Avast? What is your OS?
Other security software installed.
