« on: January 18, 2011, 09:19:20 PM »
Remotely installed Avast 5.1 free version on a clients system and client has AOL 9.5 Desktop version. After Avast installation AOL will try and sign in but gets thrown off when attemepting to connect TCP/IP connections. I unistalled it and it was connecting fine. After that, I reinstalled it and I having same issue. I have looked at all of the options in AvastUI and could not find any answer. I have also stopped the shields and program still will not connect. Please help me allow this program.

THANKS!

While avast are investigating this, the recommended action is to uninstall the Behaviour Shield.

From windows Add Remove Programs, Change/Remove, select Change and uncheck the Behaviour Shield option, click Next and OK your way out, reboot and that should allow you to use the AOL software. See image, whilst this is for XP the process is the same for other OSes.

It is safe to keep that shield uninstalled, it is just one of the shields in avast.

Monitor the forums for a fix being issued, this may need to be in the form of a program version update or it may be able to be done in the virus definitions and engine update. Then you can reverse the change.

You're welcome.

I don't work for avast, just an avast user like yourself, so I will find out in the forums when  fix is issued ;D
