Yeah, now scans of the files in the virus chest report "No virus".  Definitely seems like a false positive.  Going to reboot to see if anything still happens on startup.

Dr. Web CureIt (Express Scan) found nothing as well.

edit: No alerts on startup.

I haven't had much time to start any deeper scans yet, but reading what other people have said recently, I've looked at my scan log and I too have noticed that I'm now 2 hours past-due for an "infected" file to show-up.  The old "infected" .dll's are still in the Chest, but rescanning them is showing that they're not infected.

At least for me it was a false positive, as using the latest Avast update it reports the quarantined .dll files as containing no virus. And the pop-up messages have stopped.

Both home and work computer have had no further "virus" reports, and all of the "infected" .dll's on the work computer now scan as uninfected (Home computer's files were all deleted before they could be quarantined).  So it's looking like it was a false positive.

What I'm wondering is what may have been creating the files in the first place, aside from it being something using Net Framework 2.0.  Doing a very rough look at my computers for any common denominators, I'm *very* tentatively thinking the .dll file could be something from the Impulse runtime (from Stardock entertainment).  I've not had a lot of time to run any in-depth process-checking tools for a more detailed comparison (I've been too busy fixing other people's computers today) so my tentative guess could be *way* off base.

Interesting. I've got Impulse. You might be onto somthing

EDIT: Looking on the Impulse forums it seems that this is (was) a problem with Impulse. Not sure why it happened, but it seems to be over now. If anyone else with this problem could verify this it would be awesome.

How weird, I have impulse also (I thought I was the only one...)
Reporting no more threat detections since the last update, so far at least.
Going to keep an eye on the forum and my scanner, just in case.

And also I do have Impulse, seems to be a common denominator?

I have Impulse as well. I believe the first time I saw the popup warnings were when I was on impulse looking at Baldur's Gate 2 stuff. =/

Yes, I also have Impulse.  I have not received any warnings today at all.  Could this now be resolved??
