3. Reset now button. Resetting program settings to their default values. This feature lets you reset the avast! settings to their default values. Please be careful as you will lose all your custom settings. This action cannot be undone.
Desired by tons of users! Thanks.

And how about the feature to manage the settingd? only reset it will not be good
I think it must have a feature to simply save the config as portable file and so run the config on each new instalation :-\

Windows Live Mail uses a proprietary protocol if I'm not wrong. Impossible to integrate.
I don't know about that. I use the free version of Spam Fighter with Outlook Express. I did have Windows Live mail installed for a while and it also worked with that. WLM is very similar to OE.

It entirely depends on the source of the email, if it is from Hotmail or MAN and is web based (not pop3/smtp account) then it would use the Microsoft proprietary protocol which can't be used by avast. That is the whole issue/point of proprietary to stop others using it, a little like a lot of the AOHell stuff, doesn't integrate.

Actually the main purpose of such button is when you make extensive changes and then you don't know how to get settings back to default. Or for tech support when it comes to troubleshooting. Just click "Reset" or whatever it will be called and i can safely say that many problem will be solved this way in a matter of seconds.

The first number relates to a basic program. Thus 5.0, 5.2, 5.3,etc. Would be basically the same with some tweaking. 6.0,6.2, 6.3 would indicate major changes to the software. The difference between v5.x and v6.x would be a vastly different product with v6.x having major improvements over v5.x.

There is no fixed date yet but it will certainly be released in 2011. Some unofficial words are that it might even happen in the first half of 2011...

avast has a scheme to count the "code" variation translating it into "points".
The higher points, the higher version number.
They accumulated enough "points" to reach version 6 :)

Can we expect any changes to the firewall? It's the only part that's under-performing right now (at least for a bit advanced users). Especially the application ruses UI is an usability nightmare, needs a complete redesign. And the log needs some options, fe. copy IP, who-is, goto rule etc.

Warlock I completely disagree with you in the matter of firewall.
For me it's the most user-friendly designed firewall.
