how do i run a full system scan? help please!

Im new to the whole avast thing, so far im lovin it!(as mcdonalds would say)

but im not sure how to manually start a full system scan.

also can i schedule weekly system scans?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Select the area (folders, all local disks...) you want and click on 'Play' button.

No. This is Professional version feature.
In Home version you can only schedule (manually) one boot time scanning for next boot.

thanks for yur help, i got the quick scan feature working. that shud do the trick 4 now,

but for future reference, how bout a step by step guide to how to schedule

a boot time scanning session?

Im not used to this proggie yet so u'd better put it in laman's terms,

or better yet, phrase it like you would if u were talking to 3 year old.

Avast as almost all applications does have a manual build in ;D

Start Avast, click on MENU than click on help. Hé look, there is the manual ;D

Sure you can. Use the windows taskscheduler. You can even use the switches you want for the scan. Create a batch file that runs AshCmd with the desired switches. And schedule that in taskmanager.

How bout a step by step guide to how to schedule a boot time scanning session?

It's only available in Windows 2k/XP.
Right click the 'a' blue icon on the system tray.
Start avast antivirus (2nd option)
Right click the skin (on a clean part of it, not over a button for instance)
Choose 'Schedule boot-time scanning'
Choose if you want (or not) to scan archive files (*.zip, *.arg for instance)
Choose the default desired option to take if a virus were found
Boot
