  • If at first you don’t succeed; call it version 1.0

You could try submitting the file concerned to Avast from the chest, with a note that you think it is a false positive (one of the categories on the comment form) if you have reason to believe the file is not infected.

What is the original full name and path of the file, and what is the name of the Avast detection?
Windows 10,Windows Firewall,Firefox w/Adblock.

Is this the speedyfox : http://www.crystalidea.com/speedyfox you are talking about?

Avast doesn't detect it(see pic).

Which is the virus database version you are using? Latest is 110203-0

I have submitted the file to avast.I downloaded speedyfox again.scanned the files with avast, malwarebytes they show no virus found. But when I run a scan with Avast it picks it up as a virus.
Annoying.

What version of speedyfox are you using I'm using 1.4.3.42 and like nmb avast doesn't find that infected. I have just downloaded the latest 1.6.0.52 version and avast is fine with that also.

Well that is the file that we both scanned and found nothing using ashQuick theoretically the most thorough avast scan.

You didn't answer what was probably the most crucial question, What is the malware name ?

Nor did you fully answer the first question fully (about settings) as I don't believe PUPs are scanned for by default in the Quick or Full System scan. I suspect that this detection will be showing up as a [PUP] detection which isn't scanned for by default in the the ashQuick scan.

As I said nor do I believe it is scanning for PUPs in the Quick or Full scans as I haven't had speedyfox.exe detected in my Quick or Full scans.

It has nothing to do with belief, just seeking the facts.

A simple answer rather than avoiding it would have concluded this topic some time ago.

I don't know what is so secret about telling us the name of the malware detection, if it were a PUP and you had set your Quick or Full scans to look for PUPs then this whole thing could have been answered 'accurately.' Without answers to questions how can we help.

If considered a PUP in the detection, it would explain why two of us don't get the alert as we aren't looking for PUPs. Since fasterfox seeks to optimise/tweak/modify firefox then it is entirely possible for it to be considered a PUP.

But when you don't answer questions how can we get to the bottom of your question, we are trying to help but it seems you don't want it.

So I'm done wasting my time on this topic.

That is the file name and not the malware name given by avast on the detection.
