Can't send web site mail out of O/E
« on: August 31, 2004, 09:36:11 PM »
I don't think this is avasts fault, but I haven't been able to send mail  with my Web Site addresses from O/E whether the Avast system is on or off.

I was wondering if it was because my ordinary accounts are
 Pop3. mail.btinternet.com
Smpt. mail.btinternet.com
and my web site addresses are
Pop3 mail.mydomain@my website url
Smpt.  mail.btinternet.com.

I think I have them set up right, it's just puzzling me. If I let Avast do it the pop 3 settings and smpt are 127.0.0.1 that allows all of my e-mail addresses to receive ,but won't allow me to reply to people that write through my web sites.

Am I doing something wrong please?

Don't worry about this. I always find out how to do things in the end, and now have the perfect solution. I can have 3 different smpt users in Avast and still send mail through all of them, and also have them checked by the mail wizard. They work from O/E and my web site Addresses easy now.

Hi Barr_y
If you've solved the problem then why not share it Here and let someone not so clever learn from what you did?

Hi Bob that is what I intended to do. I have been working on it all day to write it onto my web site under the Avast tutorial and have named it Mail Wizard.  It is not something you can just put here, as it was quite long and I like to explain it so people can follow it easy.  Especially as I have a charity that has downloaded my site to CD. (e-mail attached) I have just finished it and uploaded it to http://safety1stcomputing.co.uk  you are quite welcome to copy it for the members here. You will need to go to Avast Antivirus/Install Set-up/Avast Antivirus/Wizard Magic .

Hi Barry,

I have just been looking through your site and I think that it is extremely useful. I have a request.

I work for a charity (Opportunities Through Technology) that works with disabled adults to provide them with access to employment and educational opportunities through the use and application of technology.

Many of our clients primarily use the internet purely for E-Mail and for that reason use a pay as you go service. Due to their disability it is likely to take them sometime to browse your site.

I would like to be able to provide our clients with an offline version of your website on a CD (I have already downloaded your site using HTTrack). All of the external links will remain as external links, nothing will be changed on your site and we will not be charging anybody for the disc, it is purely a way for our clients to gain access to the information offline.

I realise that I could have gone ahead and done this anyway but I thought that I ought to request your permission first.

Kind Regards

John Picton
