F-Prot, F-secure, Kaspersky, mks_vir and Norman where still scanning after 60 minutes, so I interupted it. Seems that Jotti can't handle .rar files with all scanners or is it the scanners that can't handle it

Mabey you should contact jotti and ask him about it, it might be something on his side.

BTW, where do you get these test files?

Already notified Jotti about this.

I am not gonna tell where I got those things from, not here, nor in private, nor anywhere else. Not all people will use that info for legitimate things only. Alwill and other AV companies know where I got it from/how I got them and that is enough.

erm, ok fair enough, didn't relise that people would use it for non "legitimat" reasons anyway.
But why did you mention it then if you new people would be curious....

If all people where honest and forthright and never did any bad things, the we wouldn't need Avast! or SpySweeper or Ad-Aware or all those other programs.

Remember, curiosity once killed a cat.

Eddy's post just points out that either Jotti or the AV programs used still need some fine tuning. ;D

I think that Jotti has tried to cover the multiple viruses in packed form in his notes at the top of the page.

Quote
Scanning can take quite a while, since several scanners are being used, plus the fact some scanners use very high levels of (time consuming) heuristics. Before you draw any conclusions from the reported scan times, be aware this server is composed of very old hardware and scanners will perform considerably better on modern machines. Scanners used are Linux versions, differences with Windows scanners may or may not occur. Another note: some scanners will only report one virus when scanning archives with multiple pieces of malware.

Please do not ask for any of these viruses, unless you work for an anti-virus vendor. They are not for trade.

ABUSE OF THIS SERVICE (INCLUDING UPLOADING DELIBERATELY MODIFIED -PACKED/ENCRYPTED/BYTESWAPPED- VERSIONS OF THE SAME SAMPLE) WILL RESULT IN AN IP BAN.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I take it that these missed results will be included in the next vps update?

i uploaded hundreds to thousands viruses to jotti :) ...
and i never noticed "performance" problems ...

but i use < 1MB zip files with viruses (tested to work at all online scanners supporting archives)

i decided to not use rar because sometimes format change and AVs not work properly on different version of rar, for example .ace and .7z is ignored by most online scanners ....

 ...

if You speak about that file from Neowin (cough) .... then not all are viruses ...

[edit] argh noticed Dr.web still missing , unhappy by this ...

maybe i wrote emails to some more AV developers ...

this is good idea and deserve support ...

Hmmm... It seems that AntiVir is outreaching avast! now?

BTW, I don't see any info about Dr. Web being reactivated? Hmm.

Also, I think the Alwil guys are working on their VPS since it has been already 3 days now? At least I hope so... ;)

Heh... I always see Alwil pops up their VPS on the third day.
But sometimes just with a few ITW detections.
I wonder what's coming.. :)

UPDATE: Avast detection rate dropping... :(

That's true.
If it were to be ITW, Alwil would add it right away. ;)

UPDATE: avast! detection rates continued to drop... :(
AntiVir is dropping as well... :)
Norman has the worst detection rates...  ;D

Yes I agree,

If there was a new virus being massed mailed about avast would add very quickly. Most of these viruses are just samples or stored on virus authors website.

Although I have to admit Kasperkly must be loving this. What a good advert for them (And F-secure although this is really of the back of the Kasperky engine)

Cheers
