[Resolved] What's the difference?
« on: January 29, 2011, 02:12:33 AM »
What's the difference between...http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility and aswclear5.exe. When I Google aswclear5.exe It takes me to the same location and the same uninstaller. No I don't want to, nor will I uninstall 5.5.889. It just might be confusing to the "newbies".

The terminology "uninstall utility" is the name of the application, chosen (I'd imagine) to make it obvious what it does and what it's for.
The other is simply the file name.

Many computer processes have file names that are different - or abbreviated, or generic - from the programs they operate as part of.

When I downloaded the uninstall utility it was aswclear5.exe it is now just uninstall-utility. Maybe they fixed it to avoid confusion.

I brought this up because of another thread. Guess what? Now I can't find the thread.

No need to yell.
Sorry Tarq57, I didn't notice I hit the caps lock by accident. I am by nature easy going. Didn't mean to yell.
