« on: February 01, 2011, 04:39:11 PM »
I know this is a silly topic but just want to know which one is better?Which software do you recommend.Mostly,I saw most of the experts recommend MBAM instead of A-squared(Emsisoft),why?Thanks.

A-squared is outdated and not even in the same league as malwarebytes, i would think not just most but all expert's would recommend MBAM, second choice would be superantispyware.

I use MBAM full and its one time fee is well worth the price for the additional protection it offers plus the ability to schedule updates and scans.

actually A-squared new antimalware v4 is top quality contender according to tests and on par with MBAM ...

no idea what You mean with the outdated ... (it's slow but that's already resolved in theirs beta build)

Didn't know that they had started a new build, i still wouldn't compare it to MBAM.

[/quote]Yes it is, my mistake, getting late here  ;D, but one thing is that emsisoft has an av in it so will not be compatable with avast, malwarebytes is anti malware so no av and shouldn't even be compared to a full suite. There is also emsisoft mamutu which does malware and is behaviour based but iv no experience with this program and it's not free.

Both Dwarden and yongsua need to learn about the power of MBAM and users that set Windows Defender(Off)  ::)

yongsua, you can run the free versions of both MBAM and Emsisoft Antimalware, like I do. They are both demand scanners and have no real time protection. The Ikarus Antivirus engine in Emsisoft is great as a second opinion to Avast. Still, I turn off the real time scanners in Avast before running any other scanner just to avoid possible conflicts.

With Emsisoft you have an additional choice of using an installed program (Emsisoft Antimalware), or a portable version with no services or other changes made to your system (Emsisoft Emergency Kit). The latter, and the one I use, also includes a few bundled antimalware utilities like BlitzBlank and HiJack Free.

2 items to watch in that "unbiased report" -

It contains advertising for Emisoft plus it compares MBAM versiom 1.46 , where current MBAM is 1.50.1 -

MBAM has no A/V content so it will always not pick up certain viral infections - It is designed as a 'Compliment' to your A/V program , or a stand alone Anti Malware program - Ergo the name Malwarebytes Antimalware -

Thank You -
