Internet Explorer Problem
« on: February 06, 2011, 04:16:40 AM »
Hey, I am having a problem with Avast on this computer.

Whenever I have avast running IE gives me the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" thing.   When I turn off real time shields it doesn't have a problem.

Any fixes?

OS Name   Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium
Version   6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001

Avast Version: 5.1.889

It is proably a simple fix but I am just missing it.

If this is in the wrong section I am very sorry.

Thanks,

Snipes12 (Shaun)

Hi snipes,

Which firewall do you use? Is AvastSvc.exe allowed through it to connect to the internet?

Also, do you have any other browsers installed? Do you experience the same with them?

To the best of my knowledge there is no firewall on it.  I believe the one that comes with the computer is actually disabled (I might be wrong, could that be the problem).

There is no other browsers installed on the computer either.  Ill update you if I am wrong though, wont be looking at the computer again till later today.

Thanks for the help :).

Which version of avast are you using - Free or pro or internet security?

Can you try a repair of avast via control panel - hit "windows key + R"(press both at a time),type "appwiz.cpl" without quotes and hit enter.

Select avast and click uninstall/change. Select repair. Reboot and check if its fixed or not.
