Virus Total web scan
« on: September 03, 2004, 12:01:16 AM »
Hi All,

Just to let you know there is another online scan webpage which uses multiple scan engines (very similar to Jotti) at http://www.virustotal.com/flash/virustotal_en.html

It uses Norman, Clam AV, E Trust, Esset, Trend, Symantec, Sybarai, Mcaffee, Bit defender, Kasperky and Panda antivirus.

I think with Jottis scanner and this one it great way to get a second opinion.

Cheers

Hi Jlo,

You might want to change the Subject Title, it looks a little strange, Total web scaM, I'm sure you meant Total web scaN.

Not sure why they would want your email address, to scan a file for infection, unless it is optional? I didn't try it.

Thanks I have just changed the scam to scan!!

I did try it and you get a  report back via e mail instantly.

Seemed OK to me.

I'd rather get my answer on line like you do with all the others.
I have nothing against giving my e-mail address but only if it's my choice.

Welll I do agree with you.

At least Jotti scanner does not ask for your e mail address. I guess I would also hold back on sending any 'confidenial files' as one does not know where they would be stored.

Its still useful though if you have downloaded something or been sent a 'joke' exe file from a friend (I know the best policy is to delete) and you want a second opinion that its safe.

Cheers
