It appears from that report that all your file associations are gone

So first we will update you to SP3 to see if that cures it

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&displaylang=en

Then install IE8 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/worldwide-sites.aspx

If that fails we will then run dial-a-fix

The extensions are being shown as a result of the tools - we will reset them later

Thank for helping me for the last few weeks.

The computer is running pretty well right now except for one thing.

When I open the search box, My Computer--Search, I am getting an error message "Data Execution Prevention". When I open the box again, I am not getting any option when I can search. It looks like the search option has been disable or not working properly.

On the XP computer, there is usually a dog wagging his tail on the bottom left. On top, there is an option I can search for files.

Right now, the dog is just sitting there with no option to search.

What can I do?

Lets look deeper

Download AVPTool from Here to your desktop

Run the programme you have just downloaded to your desktop (it will be randomly named )

First we will run a virus scan

On the first tab select all elements down to Computer and then select start scan
Once it has finished select report and post that.

Do not close AVPTool or it will self uninstall, if it does uninstall - then just rerun the setup file on your desktop

Now an analysis scan

Select the Manual Disinfection tab
Press the Gather System Information button
Once done Open the last report saved folder  then upload the zip file toMediafire and post the sharing link.

The file is located at C:\Users\your name\Desktop\Virus Removal Tool\setup_9.0.0.722_05.01.2011_20-34\LOG\avptool_sysinfo.zip

OK that shows it is not malware related...  SO I will need to search for another solution

How did you uninstall flashget ?

Before Flashget crash, my computer freezes up and I had no choice but to shut down the computer manually. Then, when I restart the computer, I turn on flashget, it turns off automatically within 5 seconds. And, I got that error message previously posted, Default.jcd error.

I delete that file from Add/Remove Program/Software under Control Panel.

I reinstall Flashget in the same C drive and another directory (different times, deleted first, then reinstall) and still the same problem.

Not sure it is related to the registry files or ?????

Hmm if you powered your system off there is a chance you may have some corrupted sectors

Follow the directions on this page and let me know if it finds any errors
