It is Avast 5.1.889 reliable in windows 7 ultimate (64 bit) ?
« on: February 14, 2011, 10:19:50 AM »
I ask this because i have read some post about some problems with windows 7 booting after updating or after installing avast 5.1.889, and i would like to know if this is a problem of avast or problem of avast with windows 7, or is some isolated problem with some app or something.

Is this solved now ?

I am going to install a new fresh install of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Some days ago i downloaded the last avast version from softonic (avast web redirected me there)and also i downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware,and  SpywareBlaster to inmunize the system (in a spanish forum about anti-spyware and anti-virus , they say both can be installed in the same machine as they are not resident) with my ubuntu netbook. Today after install windows i will install the three programs (copying from ubuntu with a usb to ensure there are no viruses (i have also avast for linux in the netbook to analyze the downloads) , and then update all, and update windows.

I have - and some other people too - a problem with Avast and Win7 64bit regarding the issue of Avast restarting the computer in order to perform a boot-time scan, as you can read here.
