ILLEGAL OPERATION, PLZ HELP

Hi there,

i have just installed avast  home version 4.1 on a win 98 First editon comp. the resident protection scanner works fine, updates ok, when i open up avast antivirus program get the following; ( i have also un and re installed avast )

ASHSIMPL caused an invalid page fault in
module WINMM.DLL at 0167:bfe13531.

winmm.dll = Windows Multimedia API, which contains low-level audio and joystick functions.

I could be wrong here, but it looks like a problem with your sound drivers. Let's see what others have to say about this. (Alwil people?)

Any errors in device manager?
Any errors in Avast's log file?
Any errors in the system and/or event log of your OS?
