Standard shield in RC1a
« on: September 06, 2004, 04:07:59 PM »
After I update the ADNM console to RC1a and I deploied Avast NetServer Edition on the same server where is the ADNM, if i open Avast NetServer, there isn't  Standard Shield provider.

In the ADNM console, Standard Shield provider is select!
Why? ???

Another question, where is the correct syntax for exclusions? I want to exclude some directories and some extensions from standard shield.

for example:

*\*.dwg   for the extensions
and the path that I want to exclude from Standard Shield.

thanks,
Claudio

My guess is that this is a license problem (there's a known bug like this in RC1a).

Just copy the file license.dat from <adnm>\data to <avast>\data. That should solve the problem (after reboot).

The excecptions are pretty straightforward - wildcard syntax. Like

*.dwg

or

C:\foldertoexclude\*

And one more thing (I forgot, sorry) -- you need to change the registry entry HKLM\Software\ALWIL Software\Avast\av_mgm\4.0 -> Avast4LicenseFile to the correct path.

BTW what does it show now? C:\~AVINSTL\license.dat???

Now the key is:
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Management Tools\DATA\license.dat

Fine, so you changed it to this? And what was it previously?

But also the registry entry HKLM\Software\ALWIL Software\Avast\4.0 >  Avast4LicenseFile must have C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Management Tools\DATA\license.dat  or  C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\license.dat ??

Now this registry entry is:
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\license.dat

thanks

Oops, sorry, this is actually the key I thought. :-\

Not av_mgm (that's the management server itself).

In short, HKLM\Software\ALWIL Software\Avast\4.0 -> Avast4LicenseFile should have C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\license.dat and the file should exist (should be copied from Management Tools\Data if not exists).

Thanks

Ok, now it's ok.

I copied the license.dat in the correct folder, I restarted all the avast's service, and now I see standard shield provider.  :D

thanks a lot,
Claudio

But If I inserted some exclusions, the sensivity in the standard shield, must is custom or also with high sensivity the exclusions works fine?

BTW how's everything?
How many computers do you have in the console / totally in the network? Did you see any serious problems while using the ADNM?

Thanks

At the moment I have 30 client.

The only problem that I have is the deployment to client (as describe in another topic).

Now, ADNM works fine.

Any news for the new build?
