NEW SBS 2008 Install - Access Denied trying to push out clients
« on: February 16, 2011, 08:18:21 PM »
 ???

Dear god!  I've been working on this all week with no luck.

New install, SBS 2008, workstations are a mix of Win732bit & XP.

I've got avast 4.8 server installed with the ADNM.  I get access denied when trying to push out a client.  I really need some help here.

Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, firewalls are off, UAC is off on the Win7 Machines.  Same error on both Win7 & WinXP

It tell me to "Please check the Remote Install log for details", but I don't know where that log is.

Remote install log is in the ADNM console.

View > Show AMS Logs > Remote Install

Did you ever take a look at the ADNM manual (not being rude, just asking): http://files.avast.com/files/eng/adnmag.pdf

I know that you say that your firewalls are off, but Win7 has a lot more things that are turned off by default.  Like remote registry, network discovery, etc.  There might be a few things that need to be enabled in group policy first.  You should be able to run a psexec command against one of the Win 7 machines and have the program run.  If not, it's blocking it somehow.

Before we get into all of that though, tell us what you found in the remote install log now that you know how to access it.

Also, you should review this thread as well in case there's something that you missed.  If you got the console installed, then you're doing pretty good.

Yeah, I've been looking through the manuals.

Now, I'm not getting "Access Denied" but, seem to be stuck at "Waiting"

Can you ping the machines?  Run a program on them remotely with psexec? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896649

Do the workstations (clients) have any A/V software installed on them now? or before?
