Keyboard Shortcuts to Access Virus Chest

Help!

I've been battling a trojan on my son's laptop (windows vista), and yesterday while running a boot scan with avast I sent some important windows components to the virus chest.

The touchpad no longer works, and worst yet, neither do any of the USB ports, which means I can't plug in a mouse.

I've tried starting in safe mode with no change.

I can navigate through the start menu to open avast, but I don't know how to go any farther.

Has anyone gone through this before?

To get to the maintenance menu hit the CTL-ALT key down and then the M key. Holding down CTL-ALT will show the letters needed to be pushed. I am not sure how to restore the files because you have to right click and select restore after you highlight the files.

It is just Alt that you need to press, then A...only problem is that you cannot seem to get to the virus chest. (i.e. there is no keyboard shortcut to the chest...)

Have you heard of mousekeys? --> http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88849-mouse-keys.html

You should be able to control the mouse with the keyboard.

Thanks for the correction. I found these shortcut keys by accident and I was pressing the Ctl key along with the Alt key so pressing the Ctl key is just redundant. I can use those mouse keys if I ever get into a situation where I lose the mouse. Thanks for the link. I was not at my computer with avast when I answered the question so I went back to my post on shortcut keys and DavidR posted a file showing M as the shortcut key for Maintenance so I guess they have changed.

Edit:
I was doing a little investigation and once you get to the maintenance tab with Alt-A you can get to the Virus Chest by pressing Ctl-Tab and use the arrow keys to select the file but I still cannot find the shortcut key to open the context menu on the quarantined file.

Yes, ctrl+tab changes the submenu...seems I tried every key permuation but that one :P

From there, just Tab to select the chest items, up down to select which file, and then the button on the keyboard that invokes right click (looks like this: http://peltiertech.com/images/2009-08/KeyboardBottomRight.jpg) which allows restore etc.

Thanks for the help, guys! I was able to maneuver around, but restoring the items did not correct the problem. I'm going to do a system restore to any earlier date and start attacking the virus/trojan/root kit/whatever again.
