For non-tech users this seems to have the potential to ask questions of them that they do not have the knowledge or understanding to respond correctly.  I hope that as in the Behaviour Shield of v5.1.889 that an Allow option is available.

Non-tech users rely on software like Avast! to make decisions for them.  They have to trust such software implicitly.  I have installed Avast! 5 free on many systems, mostly for non-tech users, and with the passing of time have become able to enjoy peace of mind that their systems are well-protected and safe (and that my phone hardly ever rings with someone on the other end wailing that their computer has a behaviour problem).

Well, if you don't install this feature on their machines, they won't have to decide.
Else, teach them. ;)

I would therefore hope that an update installation of Avast! v6 will offer the option of omitting AutoSandbox.  It would be unnecessarily onerous if that is not so since one would otherwise have to do a time-consuming clean install for the sole purpose of omitting it.  As I said, many users must trust Avast! to make the necessary judgement calls on their behalf.  The excellence of Avast! is that is a trustworthy guardian of the safety of its users' systems.

Many of my users are not capable of achieving the necessary understanding to be able to make effective responses.  For myself, I welcome AutoSandbox as I have the necessary knowledge and insights to make good use of it.

This post is a prayer to Avast! while Avast! 6 is still at the beta stage.

Users should learn how to a handle their system and software.
If they don't, they should not be using them.
You want people to drive a car while they cant?  ;D

I don't believe that you need to know how the engine management system works in your car to be able to drive it well but it helps.  Avast! provides very effective protection for those who won't/can't understand what is inside their computer's equivalent of the engine compartment.  Extra features are great for those who will learn and can understand what goes on in their computers.

Those who take the trouble to learn and understand their computers deserve to have the benefit of greater protection from malware by virtue of having put the time and work in to earn those benefits like I have done.  On the other hand, my wife hasn't a hope of coping with such things but has a right to use the Internet.  Luckily she has me to help keep her cyber-safe but I still need to configure her system so that she isn't bombarded with incomprehensible popup alerts when I'm not around to help but at the same time endeavouring to prevent really bad stuff from compromising her system and therefore her security and privacy.

I consider that the best way of keeping Mrs Hake and her system safe on the web is to use Avast!, Sandboxie and OpenDNS.  I should add that all software is kept rigorously up to date.

Well, the good thing about avast is the great flexibility. ;)

You would not have to do a clean install to get rid of the shield either, you can go to remove programs, double click avast, click change and then untick the shield you do not want, click ok and reboot, or on a fresh install choose custom and untick the shield you dont want, simple.

Thanks for reminding me about using the uninstall facility to remove and add components.   :)
