Avast 4.8 update
« on: February 25, 2011, 10:14:44 AM »
Hi,

how can I download the virus database updates for the Avast 4.8 edition for a computer not connected to the Internet ?
A few days ago, there was an available .exe file to update Avast. Now it's not available.

Plz help me.

Just remember that version 4.8 will be dropped and wouldn't be able to update in a few time...
Why don't you upgrade to version 6? Which is your Windows?

You are living on borrowed time if using avast 4.8, whilst there is no fixed date for the end of support for 4.8 including VPS updates, it really can't be that far out.

Support for win9.x, winME was original meant to cease at the end of 2009 and that really is the only reason you should still have 4.8. The only reason that didn't happen is 4.8 was still supported and inadvertently win9.x, winME.

I'm still using 4.8 because it lets me run on-demand only, without services running in the background.
Once 4.8 dies, im outta here.

Totally your choice, good luck with your next on-demand scanner.
