Avast 4 SBS License Update
« on: September 10, 2004, 07:08:09 PM »
Looking at the forum, it seems like this is a common thing with updating this program.

I just bought the SBS License and installed the new dat file, however, it keeps saying the license key is invalid.

I did go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Avast4>Change to remove the Exchange, SMTP...etc components. They all have Xs next to them. It still tells me the license key is invalid.

Here is the log:

Hmm... unfortunately, there's a confirmed problem that may be causing this in the current avast Server Edition build.

The most straightforward workaround is to reinstall the program (supplying the retail license file to the installer). If this is undesirable, you may try sending your <avast>\setup\setup.ini file to Mr. Forejt forejt@avast.com - who I believe should be able to make some modifications to the file that would prevent this problem from happening.

However, he's already out of office (it's 7:15pm here) and I'm not sure what his plans for the weekend are like... :)

Thanks
