Avast v6 Script Shield and x64?
« on: February 24, 2011, 11:34:32 PM »
on the avast website under features, it no longer says that the script shield is IE and x86 only, does that mean it is now working on x64 and on more browsers than just IE?

Not on my 64 bit system it doesn't. No script shield activity at all so far.

Mag is correct, it's currently IE 32-bit only (although unlike in avast 5.x, it also supports IE Protected Mode).

But we're working on support for both 64-bit IE and more browsers.

Thanks

ah i see, perhaps under features that info shuld be put back in like it was in the old website, kind of gives the wrong idea now that its removed on the new site.

It works with IE 32 bit running on a Win 7 64 bit system.

You have to be precise with the wording not to confuse things here.

OS 32 & 64 bit, IE 32 bit program version --->  working.
OS 64 bit, IE 64 bit program version --->  not working.

FireFox --->  not working.

Not on mine it doesn't. No script shield activity at all since installation.

(I am using IE9 RC 32 bit though - don't know if that makes any difference)

That must be it, 'cause I've tested it with IE 8 32 bit on Win 7 Pro 64 bit -->  working fine.

Same here: no script shield activity at all with IE 9 RC (even if I have Vista 32 bit)

Script shield does work outside browsers though, even with 64 bit.

Try running windows media player and you should see some activity.
