Which build of WMP ?

It will help the AVAST staff if you write it :)

11.0.5721.5280

On XP SP3 Home - italian.

It was installed from Windows Update.
I tried to uninstall, rolled back to WMP9, no problem with 9, re-installed 11, red again.

About AVAST guys, I am not much confident.
Besides, not their fault but it is rather annoying being either ignored or answered like "change your OS with Win7" or "use VLC".

Also because it takes time to understand an issue with Media Player is related to the antivirus.

only reason I suggested to try deactivating the script shield is because it does interfere with WMP activity...

Well, it crossed my mind too, though it's quite a wild guess - but even if script shield was the cause, it might be necessary to uninstall the shield; stopping probably wouldn't be enough.

Yes, if the script schield was the cause, stopping it is not enough, I tried yesterday.
But it comes certainly from it, because on a french site, some people wrote they have resolved the problem with "FixIt" from Microsoft for WMP and they wrote that "FixIt" fixed scripts in WMP 11. Unfortunately for me, FixIt doesn't want to work on my computer :(
But well, I am not a computer specialist, it comes maybe from somewhere else.

Updated AVAST to 6.0.1091 and as expected the issue with WMP is still present.

avragorn, how about uninstalling avast! script shield? (Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs / avast! Antivirus / Change/Remove / Change - and uncheck the Script Shield)

Sorry for insisting but reading the forum it seems also people with US locale are having the said issue with WMP, which makes it improbable to be depending on the language.
It would be interesting to know what "FixIt" actually fixes on those computers where it fixes WMP.

so, could anyone try to uninstall Script Blocker, reboot and let us know if it's fixed or not? thanks

if someone can use FixIt, I'd recommend to save registry content (regedit.exe -> click on "Computer" -> File / Export), apply FixIt and then export registry again.

I tried, but the Script Shield is not uninstalled after this :(
Or maybe should I make it in safe mode ?
