Sandbox
« on: November 23, 2011, 05:33:48 AM »
Hi,
I wish to test a backup programme. Can I test with the sandbox feature or should I download a virtual PC from Microsoft & if so, can I run it in the sandbox. Thank you in anticipation,
Rob

You can run a program in the sandbox.
But you cannot "install" a program into the sandbox.
You need virtualization to test it. VirtualBox (freeware), VMWare or Microsoft Virtual PC are some options.

Hi.
I decided to run the backup programme ( Macrium reflect) which seems OK, but I then thought I would test the restore function using the Sandbox, intending to stop short of actually restoring.
However the programme did load but not in the Sandbox "red surround".Is this normal or do I need to alter any settings in Avast Pro please ?
Cheers,
Rob

In the sandbox setting you can configure which program should run inside of the sandbox.
Another option is right clicking the executable file and choosing to run inside of the sandbox.
