Slipstream Web Accelerator and Avast Web Shield
« on: March 01, 2011, 12:39:15 AM »
I use Slipstream Web Accelerator for my dialup connection. When it's enabled, Windows (in Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections) shows it as a proxy using port 5400 (see picture). I just started noticing that the Avast Web Shield doesn't scan anything when Slipsteam is enabled, but it works perfectly if it's not. In Avast, I went to Settings>Troubleshooting>Redirect Settings and entered 5400 in WEB HTTP port(s): (see picture). But the Avast Web Shield still doesn't scan when Slipsteam's enabled. Slipstream is a compression server so I set compression to "None" but still left it enabled and Avast didn't scan anything. But if I disable Slipstream altogether, then Avast will scan. Anyone know if there's something else I need to do? I have Vista and XP and it does it on both systems. This behavior is also the same for both FF and IE.

Thanks.

Uncheck "Ignore local communication" and try again?

doktornotor, that fixed it. Thanks a million. Don't know how I missed that. Too easy I guess.  :D
