inthewildteam,

I did the same as you with both F.F. and T.B. by saying no when given the choice to delete all files. Both new versions of each program loaded and are running ok. I do have a few minor problems trying to get some new themes but then I believe that will get fixed anyway. :)

I folks, an update to the saga, I'm back on 0.9.3 of firefox. I simply couldn't get round the updated Firefox1.0 blocking of sites to install software of ff1.0.

Now I don't know if this is my setup, also lean (InTheWild) and I'm not running SP2 either, but having gone back to 0.9.3, I think I have found a flaw in the Install Software blocking.

I did the usual uninstall, reboot, install of ff1.0, removed all incompatible extensions and tried again. The link (url) path when you click points to update.mozilla.org (which I added to the allowed sites), this however is a redirect link and the actual download/install url is http: // ftp dot mozilla.org/pub/, etc. etc. so ftp.mozilla.org is not on the list of allowed sites.

So when the block warning comes up and you are allowed to get into the settings to allow the site, the url that is added to the list is update.mozilla.org. However, the file is actually downloaded and installed from ftp. mozilla.org, so it is blocked and the loop continues, offering to allow update.mozilla to be added to the list.

So this issue could be a problem with other sites that use a redirect link to the software.

Now waiting a resolution from a non PR (Preview Release) of firefox 1.XX. I could also add ftp dot mizilla.org to the allowed sites list or remove the sub domain reference and only having mozilla.org in the list so that all subdomains of mozilla.org are accepted (I don't know f that would work).

I don't see where all these problems are coming from, the only problem i have had when i just installed it was that autohide extension was incompatable to install.

MAbey try these steps:

1) compleatly uninstall firefox 0.9.3  (including all extensions) use the search funtion in windows to make sure no directorys are left.
2) Then install firefox 1.0 preview.
3) The reinstall macromedia flash/shockwave players, then reinstall autherware player from the same site. (some extensions wont work without these)
4) Restart you browser and put update.mozilla.org to the allowed installsion list.
5) Then try to install the extensions you want. (such as flashgot, imagezoom, bbcode, searchdictionary, adblocker, nukeimage ect).
6) Restart your FF browser again so all extensions are properly installed (should take a little longer to open if you install alot of extensions)

BTW, im not having any of the previous problems with forums like FF 0.9.3, ff1.0 preview does seem to of sorted it out.

I suggest you re-read the thread as you are opviously confused again, I know some of the posts are long, as you have mentioned before.

If by 'you lot you' (do you think they/we are thick, because that's how I read it), I didn't get of the last boat Lee. I have been using computers for over 30 years and I know how to install firefox, including getting rid of the last version first (I have uninstalled 4 previous versions and no problems), read my posts again and you will see exactly what I have done!

I have edited my last post, and i applogise for making you think such a thing, i in know way ment to apply that anyone is "thick" as you put it, im not always the best at English and put things down wrong, i would never call think/dumb ect, its not my way, my last post was only a suggestion to help your problem, it was the way that i did it, and im having no problems, but i did only skim over the last posts, so i must of missed the something, i thought the problem was that flash/shockwave were not re-installed (it was suggested to reinstall somewhere), but obiously by reading your last post u must have, sorry for any upset/anoyance i have casused.

I have a question.   Why does it take almost 3 times as long to load Firefox as it does to load IE or and IE based browser?

What are you talking about? Firefox loads faster than IE for me (in terms of the program and web pages).

I have no problems with slow loading times with Firefox.

This site might help anyone who does

Also a read of Mozillazine will help to optimize it.
