avast! Rescue CD 1.0.3
« on: March 04, 2011, 09:50:53 AM »
I'm testing the new/updated version of avast! BART-CD called avast! Rescue CD.

The update virus definition file VPS via Internet id great, but where is a file manager (like Salamander in avast! BART-CD)? :)

Is it an open beta?
Where can we download/test it?

It's not a beta version, it's a new release/new product.

avast! Rescue CD is available for download only in the avast! B2B System.

$10? That's a pretty steep price drop from the BART CD.   ;D

The Rescue CD will be a physically Shipped Product, not a download. The download being talked about here is the image available to resellers

Which you could probably have access to if you're a friend of MAC and can find him elsewhere (just like he did for the SBS console).

Not pointing out specific places though!  ;D

1. RAM (I think 512 is needed, maybe a little less).
2. A CD/DVD driver.
3. A local connection to internet to update the database. Or you'll need to find out wireless network drivers to update...

My personal feeling, not an official answer of course.

Thanks!!

And I'd also like to know about license expiration of avast!Rescue CD.
I download and use avast!Rescue CD. But there is no function to manage license.

If you purchase avast!Rescue CD, you can continue to use it forever?
Until when will VPS(400.vps) file continue to be provided to avast!Rescue CD?

Best regards.

There is no licensing anymore. You can use it forever afaik.
But, most probably, the licensing (readme) should say that it would be available for a period of time (and avast could eventually discontinues the product).

Until when will VPS(400.vps) file continue to be provided to avast!Rescue CD?
Not so sure about this.
