I have the same problem with the 4.8 version of Avast on one of my desktop PC (I didn't install the new version on my son PC because I'm afraid it will hang too). Since I install this version, my PC freeze at reboot when entering my session. With 4.7 i get no problem at all.
My PC runs under Windows XP SP2 Professional.
The 4.8 version was installed during UN upgrade. I have uninstall Avast from my PC and install a compete downloaded version, but I get the same result. My version of avast is 4.8.1169 VPS 080418-0. I even can do an Hijack with avast installed because it hangs before I can do anything !
Someone have any idea ?
