Script Shield Settings?
« on: February 26, 2011, 03:42:56 AM »
Isn't there any plan for adding "Advanced Settings" to Script Shield? (exclusions, actions etc.)

It seems current script shield always do "default" actions (move to chest -> delete -> nothing). Can't I change this action?

Thanks.

Well I don't know if there is any difference in the free version and the paid versions of avast in relation to the script shield, e.g. if they have more configuration.

Though from the help file I believe there are no settings in the paid versions either.

There are currently no adjustable settings for the script shield (in both free and paid versions)

Yeah... I hope I can change settings.
As wishlist topic is gone now, there is no longer specific place to post like this :-\

Copying over comments from pre-release thread that discussed the same need -http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=73110.msg649413#msg649413. Generally I agree at least some basic settings are needed, including exclusions (bad reverse pun intended).

3* Advanced settings for Script & network shield. Both need to set-up generating report files (behavior shield also need report file section). Script shield should have possiblity to set-up heuristics and action when bad script found. Network shield should have to set-up excludes.
Can't comment really on script shield, but I doubt network shield will ever have exclusion lists. The network shield block list is generally reserved for known malware distribution sites, so having an option to exclude something there would not be a good option.
Those lists can and have been wrong, or a user may want to use a site even if its on the list. Without exclusions the users is forced to turn off network protection - which is bad.

On the script side, some trusted sites generate a lot of scripts. Would be great for users who uses those sites to exclude them and avoid the latency/cpu hits.

Having a INI level setting at least be good.

Thanks,
