Can get AVAST! free version working
« on: March 08, 2011, 04:40:12 PM »
PC is Windows 7 Home version, 64-bit, and all current Microsoft apps are updated.
I have used the paid version of ESET for 3+ years now, and the license expires in 2+ weeks.
With this in mind, I tried downloading and installing the AVAST! free version this morning...all OK...did scan...all OK.
I then disabled ESET to start after rebooting, rebooted, and the PC just hung on the 'WELCOME' screen.
Tried rebooting again, same result.
I then tried starting in SAFE mode, and received 'audio' errors?? {and neither ESET or AVAST! started, and Microsoft Essentials didn't work, either}.
Tried again...same results.
I then decided to uninstall AVAST1 and use ESET again.
What's up? ???

Did you have avast, ESET and Microsoft Security Essential in same time?!

Can you please save a HijackThis Log and attach it to your next reply?

The problem was that you cant install an av on a system that already has one, can only use one antivirus at a time and that include's disabled av's, if you want avast you will need to delet eset and mse.

installing more av's at same time is not good! this will totally screw up pc, false positives. Please uninstall all antiviruses and then make decision - what antivirus  will you install. (BUT only one at time!)

I guess there will be more programs than he named here! ;D
So we can give manual to uninstall each one of them, even left over of older programs...!
