Single File Scan

I just downloaded the trial "Pro" version to evaluate it. I am looking for a command line version that works with "Internet Download Manager" to scan a single file after it is downloaded. Seems simple enough. I think I am just making it too difficult. Does anyone know if this is possible? I don't want to go back to Norton...

Welcome to the forums.
If you installed Avast! in the default folder, then this is what you can insert for the On Demand Scanner in any program that can utilize it.
(Don't forget your Download Manager)

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe

The Pro version also has ashCmd (command line scanner). Detailed info about switches you can use with it is in Avast's help file. To use with a download manager I suggest (as Bob) to use ashQuick. Info on how to use is can be found in many threads on this board.

I haven't had to use any switches at all. I believe the only program that uses a switch on my computer is WinRAR but it put the switch in by itself.

In fact, WinZip needs %d switch to work with ashQuick.exe, for instance.
Better is to see the application manual to know if anyone is needed.
Generally, no switch is needed into Download Managers  ;)

Thanks for the info and discussion but I am not actually opening the file, just virus scanning.
Internet Download Manager 4.x has a parameter for a virus scanner for example, with Norton antivirus:
   C:\Directory\Norton\NAV32.EXE [file] /S

This scans the file immediately after it is downloaded. I still don't see a similiar command in Avast but then often times I miss the obvious.

Well, you won't see because probably it does not exist  ;D
Generally, you don't need to add any parameter in Download Managers.
Just add:
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe
in the proper field  ;)
