W2K Server not communicating
« on: September 15, 2004, 11:05:03 PM »
I have a W2K server running RC2 that won't communicate back to the AMS.  There are no errors in the event log or the avast log files on the client.  Where else should I look?

Look in the data\avast4.ini file. What's in the ServerAddress= field?

BTW has the machine ever connected to the AMS?

ServerAddress=192.168.1.43

and no it has never communicated with the AMS.

...and I assume this is the correct address?

And the LastServerAddress= contains the same thing?

Really strange... because it has appearently found the server, and attempted to connect to it.

No unpXXX files in <avast>\data\log? Nothing?

Thanks

Yes it is the correct address.

Yes LastServerAddress= contains the same thing.

There are no unpxxx files in the <avast>\data\log directory.

I can reinstall and see if that will do it.

Hmmm.... I don't like this. According to the stuff in the ini file, some communication did take place - but appearently, the server didn't notice... :-\

Any chance I could get remote desktop access to that machine? ;)

Sorry too late, I've already reinstalled and it is working fine now.  Just a little to trigger happy I guess.
