You mentioned that you use revo for uninstallations. Revo is a great program, but not for uninstalling AV's, especially Avast. In the future, only use the vendor's uninstaller tools since remnants that even revo won't get will be left behind.
Here is the
MSE Uninstaller:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2435760/, then reboot your machine.
Most likely the Avast drivers are corrupt from having 2 AV's on your system. So after uninstalling MSE, you can
try an
Avast Repair:
- Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
- Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
- Reboot.
If the Avast Repair fails to fix your problems, you will need to do an Avast Uninstall and clean install:
1. Save a copy of Avast 6.0.1021 and save it to your HDD.
Free:

http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe and save it to your HDD.
3. Disconnect from the Internet at this time.
4. Go to Control Panel and uninstall Avast through Add/Remove Programs if possible and reboot.
5. If Step 4 fails, boot into
Safe Mode (hit F8 repeatedly) and run the Avast Uninstall Tool.
6.
Reboot.
7. Install the newest version of Avast and
reboot.
8. Get Internet access and register your copy or add the license key for Free, Pro, or AIS.
9. Update the Avast definitions.
Let me know if the above steps fix your problem. Thank you.
