You need to monitor the file system shield and see just what it is scanning as it doesn't just do it of its own accord.

If no activity on the FSS then check the other shields as it is used for all shields. If you had any background p2p activity, etc. then it should be rotating.

Thanks David. This began immediately after update, and there is definitely FS activity when the issue ocurs but it isn't anything I have initiated. I know scanning is happening (I can see files being scanned in FS) but it hasn't been initiated by me.
Seems to subside upon reboot, but then can reappear. ???
I need to monitor more closely before saying anything more. :-\

The idea of the suggestion is to give some examples of the files being scanned (?), in the hope of finding what might be responsible for the activity that triggers the avast scan.

I am good here
The problem is Acronis True Image 2011!
The backup with ATIH2011 went fine here (Windows 7 64 Bit). Though I only did a backup of my system partition.
Gonna test it later on my old P4 with Windows 7 32 Bit. I am using build 6696 of ATIH 2011.

Everything seems good on XP except for icon spinning.(And missing Auto Sandbox in Added Protection)
As I mentioned in another post, the Avast Icon is 'constantly spinning' on my Laptop XP and won't stop. Of course, AvastSvc.exe is working overtime but I can't tell why it doesn't stop spinning. ???
Anyone else ever experienced this constant spinning? :-\
That is one reason I went back to v6.0.1000 as it messed up Acronis True Image Home 2011!

Well I'll be dipped in chocolate!!
Its is there under Windows XP Pro
thanks folks...

Well why it isn't under the Additional Protection section in XP is still the question, when in my win7 netbook with avast free 6.0.1027 (see image) the Auto-Sandbox entry is in the Additional Protection section.

The entry for it in the File System Shield has always been there, if you clicked the settings of the auto-sandbox in the additional protection section. So for it to be buried inside the FSS, Expert Settings isn't ideal and no doubt not intended or it would be that way for win7 also.
Even though it was showing in Additional Protection before, I don't feel that it's necessary to be there. I always wondered why it was to be honest because it really isn't "Additional Protection" in the way that Web Rep and Site Blocking are, but is a part of the File System Shield and is enabled by default. I think they just put it in the Additional section because it was a new feature. I myself, would be okay with it not being there in future releases for all OS versions.

No problems with Macrium Reflect.   Ran an incremental image and verification.

The whole point is the inconsistency of it in Additional Protection in win7 not in XP.

I don't much care where they put it, but where it is is buried and the average user isn't going to see it. Not to mention when marketing is going to make a big deal about it, a feature it should be easy to find.

Is it an avast problem or TeraCopy one?
