ADAM not finding SQL 2005 Server on Windows Server 2008 R2?
« on: March 14, 2011, 05:59:44 PM »
I currently use Avast 4.8 Server on 6 of our servers and am contemplating deploying the workstation protection out to about 100 workstations (currently on Microsoft ForeFront and it's worthless).

I attempted to install this software on my web server machine and told it to use my SQL server for it's database.  It said it couldn't connect.  So I tried installing it directly onto my SQL server and same thing, it said it could not find it.  I tried using the server name and just "localhost".  I also changed the user name/password to a known good login but still no connection.

Is there a compatibility issue with 2005 SP3 x64 or Server 2008 R2?  I would like to wait to see the new 6.0 but our current license for ForeFront runs out at the end of April so I need to test and have a plan in place before then (and from what I've read it might not be out by April).  Could I be doing something wrong?

I have the same problem, but it solve now.

first, are you using MS SQL 2005 Express or full version?

if you used SQL2005 Express fill the server name with <servername>\<SQL2005_service_name>
remember to use the Mix mode for the authentication.
