Hi Steve, even if you used the win 7 firewall control it is still a real pain in the arse to configure so your better of staying with what you have as it one of the lightest of the free firewalls and is probably on par with privatefirewall then outpost and the simplest but slightly heavyer is online armor, if you need to speed up your system get rid of threatfire as it sucks resources and has been known to conflict with avast.

Thanks. Tested on a virtual machine - as expected, still the same story. Need to restart application for rules to get applied.

Referring to Asyn post, the old Comodo have lots of pop ups. The new one is quieter and I hardly feel any impact on my laptop.

Try ClearCloud DNS. It is quite good.
