Avast with a standard user account
« on: July 09, 2011, 07:02:16 PM »
I've now set up a standard user account for myself. In order to scan the whole system, does Avast scanner have to be run when logged in as an administrator?

As a standard user, I can update and change settings in Avast and Outpost Firewall while the update button in MBAM is greyed out. I was expecting the same in Avast and Outpost as I thought there were security restrictions when using a standard account.

Look forward to hearing from the forum.

I think the scanning run at service level, i.e., can be run by a non-admin account.
Cleaning (delete, send to Chest, etc.) could be another issue and, probably, you'll need admin rights (I'm not sure).
