When you downloaded 6.0.1044 from here: just start the installer. Why does it not work? Any errors?
Via GUI it won't work if you had not installed a previous beta.

I don't know why you even need to say that, it is a fact of life the next release will always be when it is ready, it will come when it comes.

The best thing that will happen is a new release (beta or stable) and closing this bloatware thread impossible to follow...

It's been gone a while, many of us had been asking for it to be closed with almost 100 pages it was a monster and open a new one effective from Avast 6.0. They didn't close it, they deleted it.

There are plans for a replacement function but that hasn't been notified to avast users yet.

Hello,
try current VPS 110401-2. It maybe fixes the slow scan of PDF files during boot time scan.

Milos

This was from this thread: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=75020.0

I just did a boot scan and it as back to 1:38:00 again.  What it was before.

Thanks!

Yeah, and why don't you complain to the game vendor that requires a rootkit to be installed for you to run the game you have paid for?  ::)

Hmm weird, I have AIS 6.0.1000 final on a relatives PC(no beta's were installed before.) The computer was on so I thought let's see if .1044 is already released and I checked for program updates within Avast GUI. It found an update and it seems it really updated(you see all the modules named when the completion bar progresses) and then it asked for reboot, so I rebooted, checked program version, which was still .1000 and checked for program updates and it said .1000 is latest. So it's really weird, the version was already current and somehow it found some update which doesn't exist, it updated and is still current :S

the updates that it is finding are the virus definitions. they have nothing to do with the actual program update.

Is it normal for it to ask for a reboot when it just updates the defs? I don't think mine did last time I did a manual update, and it doesn't on the automatic.

Not entirely true, as they can also update the AV engine with a VPS update. Also as far as we know an upcoming update of the boot-time scan ( adding an emulator ) will be done by a VPS update :)

No, nothing to worry about :)
