I understand the waiting, but I don't understand the radio silence we are facing now. With what end?

Maybe all the programmers have been reallocated to trying to get out a new version of the Business Edition ;D

If thats the reason then they should give us a stable version and get back to business edition... Because that will end all waiting minds here...

I personally don't believe that this is the reason, and please stop guessing DavidR already told us about this...
It will come when avast people think it should come...

Right now I am happy that the 1044 build is quite stable and also HAPPY  ;D with avast RAP test results..

Ok, please don't get me wrong, I read that phrase many times since I'm accompanying avast forum. I saw many developing release cycles before, but this time is different, it is atypical, that silence is "screaming" to me, I'm and other people sure are concerned about our Heroes. If there wasn't an interview a shor time ago, I would start to think that something happened with Vlk or within the Czech Republic at all. I hope I'm very, very wrong.

You are. ;)
So I'm happy, or half happy in true. Because there is no reason for all that silence. By the way, do you know something about what is (or not) happening? Thanks.

Hi everyone,

we will soon be releasing a new program update of avast. And as usual, we're making it available for public testing a few days before the official release.
Edit: now updated to build 6.0.1044.

This is hopefully going to be a smooth service release, designed really just to fix some of the issues of the original v6.0.1000 build.

Here's the list of the most important changes:
- solved an incompatibility with ZoneAlarm (WinXP)
- improved installation of the WebRep plugins (especially Firefox)
- solved a crash condition in the avast sandbox
- setup programs now smaller by ~20%
- Community features and the Welcome screen can now be turned on/off directly from program settings
- solved an incompatibility with Outpost firewall
- solved a bug related to the AutoSandbox offer (WinXP)
- gadget can now be removed by simply closing it
- new setup icons

New in v6.0.1027:
- attempt to fix new compatibility problems with GameGuard and sXe _rootkits_
- SafeZone improvements
- localization updates (including WebRep)
- improved sandbox logging)
- SafeZone is now a standalone setup package (can be installed/uninstalled separately)

New in v6.0.1035:
- solved Firefox WebRep plugin on non-English Windows
- solved a few incompatibility problems in BehavShield (e.g. TeraCopy)
- improvements in password processing
- improvements in the program uninstaller
- sandbox improvements
- fixed various UI issues introduced in the previous pre-release build

And new in v6.0.1044:
- solved a memory leak in the avast gadget
- solved a few things in WebRep
- autosandbox-related fixes
- WinXP: File System Shield not doing repetitive scans anymore
- improvements in SafeZone isolation
- improvements in the avast! sandbox (better TDL shielding etc)
- localization updates

Internet Security: http://files.avast.com/files/beta/6.0.1044/setup_ais.exe

You can either install from scratch, or over an existing installation of avast (any version). Users of the previous pre-release builds (6.0.1021, 6.0.1027, 6.0.1035) can also use the built-in program updater.

Thanks
Vlk

Does also not work on Windows 2000; error message: "Cannot find entrypoint of procedure FindActCtxSectionStringW in DLL of Kernel32.DLL" Any solution? pls inform.

I don't see any usage of the mentioned function in the current internal build, so it has probably been fixed already. I'd suggest to wait for the next beta refresh.

It seems to be caused by a windows update. Roll back this update KB2467174 Security Update for MS Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable

If it is true...
For one side: Awesome!!!
For other side: what is the reason that it is not posted here for us to test?
And avast team could release some version correcting the most urgent bugs.

Well because the released version is a iteration of the tested version. So you can't expect the same version to be released...
And ya they will sure fix the bugs we have reported so far.. :D
I hope we will also get the reason for the delay ..Cheers

I hope they fix the auto-sandbox, not user-friendly and keeps alerting when installing updates and legitimate programs. Also when a program runs in auto-sandbox, its hard to tell if its actually running in auto-sandbox and whether the program has any malware characteristics.
