Why are you even suggesting uninstalling?!  The path is normal after upgrade from v5 to v6.

The point is that @GaAs should do an uninstall using the Avast5 uninstaller and a clean install of 6.0.1035

Also your comment doesn't address the possibility of having two AvastUI.exe files which might be causing the problem.

Pardon me but I really don't see how this removal tool/uninstall/reinstall frenzy is going to fix some third-party crap opening AvastUI.exe all the time. How about finally finding the offending application per suggestions above instead? Even if you had 1000 AvastUI.exe copies all over your system, there's no reason why something should constantly attempt to open them.

Okay so this is what I see. 

1.  Based upon the thread title the Avast is in a scanning loop that hangs the system.
2.  Based upon the picture supplied it appears that File System Shield is scanning AvastUI.exe.
3.  Based upon the picture supplied it appears that the AvastUI.exe file being scanned is in the Avast 5.x directory path.

So it seemed to me that by doing an uninstall of Avast 5 and maybe even Avast 6 you will be removing the copy of the AvastUI.exe file in the old Avast 5.x directory path that the File System Shield says it is scanning.

Therefore if you remove the file that is being scanned you will remove the loop scan problem.

That is how I see it.

Yeah, you are missing the fact that the AvastUI.exe path is normal and expected for anyone who upgraded from v5 to v6.

Well unless you find out what is opening the file (Process Explorer etc.), I am afraid avast team won't exactly help you.
