I don't like downloading illegal things and even not OS's doktore notore

WTF are you blurbing about? You get your install media and install an OS into the virtual machine (unless someone provides pre-prepared VHD images (some Linux distros do, e.g.) Go learn something about the subject and shut up meanwhile.  :-X
You think that I will use my OS package? I don't understand  >:(

Yeah, apparently. So stop polluting this thread with absolutely useless posts.

Back to the topic: VirtualBox has more bugs and a lot of programs incompatibilities. VMware is much more reliable.
But I use VirtualBox due to its capacity of snapshotting.
The best things in life are free.

Tech,

Vmware workstation needs to be purchased. Vmware server? - Didn't have a good experience with that. Virtualbox is enough for a person to get started, don't you think?

VMware Player is free and you can create the VM with it now. Providing a legit copy of the OS and validating is your responsibility on all of them regardless who makes it. The only exception is XP Mode available only for Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate XP is provided there. VMware is much easier to network that Virtualbox.

Something I just remembered about VMwarwe is right now some people are having issues with Windows 7 SP1 running and installing. Apparently SP1 changed something in memory management and that is the problem. I installed SP1 on Host and Guest and haven't had any problems. I'm not a heavy user either I mainly use them to test software before installing and to run some old stuff that won't run on Windows 7 64 bit.
I used to use the MS one on XP and it was kind of doggy I don't know about the new version.

This points out one very important flaw in what it takes to be an Evangelist.
danny96 obviously has very little computer experience judging by the last few posts regarding
Virtual Machines.
Since the Evangelist status is reached simply by the number of posts,
the status actually has very little meaning.
It's also very confusing when inexperienced users come here for help and
receive incorrect advice from so called "Evangelists"
Maybe rank needs to be reexamined ???
What are your thoughts ???

@danny96,
Sorry to use you as an example but I'm simply trying to get a point across.  :'(

Maybe this ought to be in a new Topic ???

May i ask what are the requirements to set up a virtual machine?

Look at the site where you are going to download it. Some of it will depend on what guest you want to run. One gig RAM is pretty small divided between 2 PCs. I did run some on my old XP box to test slipstreamed disks with just 1 G RAM. Basically more memory is better.
