Woa... Another mistake, hehe  ;D  ;D  ;D

You should never ever NEVER say "BYE"... why ? Becaue "BYE" means forever... I'm sure you'll be back soon, we all want you to stay in these forums, so "BY" is inappropriate word in avast! forums. We use "SEE YA", "CHEERS", "SLEEP WELL, YOUR PC IS PROTECTED BY AVAST", "TALK TO YOU LATER", etc.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Joking... take care my friend !

Sorry, don't mean to be thick here  ::), but I tried avast! last night (I've used it before). I got the obvious problems because I was also using Antivir so when it told me I couldn't use the resident shield etc. at the same I time, I uninstalled avast!

My question then is this...

If AVG runs well at the same time as Antivir withought any obvious problems (both with resident shields active etc), then why won't avast! ?

Thanks

avast can run with AVG (both residents) in Windows 98\Me.
AVG free and avast! conflict each other. I'm using just the email protection of AVG and avast Pro  8)

Why do you use AVG for email Technical ?  I think the email protection of Avast is far superior (good heuristics) and one of its best features.

I have the same question. In my opinion, all it accomplishes is to slow down accessing your e-mail because it now has to be scanned twice. Also, there are more resources being used. ???

You're right. I'll publish the results.
But, if you practice safe browsing, 99% of the virus will come by email. Why do not worry with the majority cause?

Resources used are minimal. Not relevant. Time of downloading slows down in miliseconds. C'mon, the security could worth it. Well, I think I'm alone here  ::)

I see what you mean now Technical.  :)

You use both, I thought you meant you didn't use Avast for email scanning.

:-\ erm, sorry, my brains beginning to hurt. What's the difference then between AVG & avast! ?

I'm not that keen on AVG but I do rate Antivir and avast! and would rather use that combination. I know they're different products but If AVG will run happily alongside Antivir, why won't avast! ?

I think I answered your question in other thread...  ???
AntiVir (free) does not have an email provider and the on-access could be disabled.
It will work with avast.
AVG, without the resident, will work with avast too.
