Is this avast? messenger alert on startup
« on: September 24, 2004, 01:42:09 AM »
I have recently installed avast, and it works a treat.  BUT  I am now getting a warning when my machine boots up saying that there is no default mail client so the messenger service failed.  I have to clear the dialog box four times before I can finish logging on.

Could this be anything to do with avast?   I have all settings to high.

- What version of Avast?
- What do you use for your mail?
- What services from Avast have you running?

I am running avast 4.1 home edition.  My mail client is outlook (although I hardly use it, mainly use web mail).

I have instant messaging p2p shield and standard shield running.

There is no default mail client so the messenger service failed.

Are you talking about Windows Messenger?

You can disable the Internet Mail provider or, better, you can run Mail Protection Wizard from your Startup Menu and disable avast service (ashMaiSv.exe).
