you have to decide
- if you want to or can make a databackup, format, reinstall
(do you have important data on the machine; do you have a CD/DVD-Burner or other backup/storage device ??),
- or if you want to go the tedious process of cleaning and be left with a potentially unsafe system afterwards..

 ;)

I have a cd burner.  I have got a 21 yr old lad and a 17 yr old and I don't want to lose any or their stuff ! I really am clueless about these things.

I had a couple of premium rates (nobody had downloaded them) phone lines on my last phone bill,and the server had been hi-jacked.This is why I need to sort it

I will take your advice.
