Wireless usb was just an idea. You can try running a scan with Dr.WebCurit. It does not need updating. A new version comes out about twice a week.

So you can ping out yahoo?

Indeed I can ping yahoo. It works fine.

Well, I'll do those, is that for the error 10044 and my web shield being deactivated? Because there was also that problem as well.

I am just trying to eliminate everything. If you can ping Yahoo then your NIC works. I take it your typing off a working pc. Just download those two items and put them on a usb stick. Then plug them into your broken pc and run them.

As I said, I'm typing off an iPad. I just put in a wireless USB and I will get the files through it. I'll post back after I have run them both.

EDIT: Well, looks like I can't even access anything through the wireless, either. So I don't know what to do, as I can't access anything through network, and I don't have a USB drive.

You will need to get a usb thumb drive or else burn them on a cd with another pc. Maybe a families pc. Does Windows see the wireless usb and is it

configured in your gateway properly?

Out of curiosity does Windows Update run?

I managed to transfer through the network. Apparently my computer is still on the LAN even though it can't access the internet.

I configued the Wireless USB properly. I've worked with it before on other computers and I know it's working. My gateway is awesome in that the uPnP can basically auto-config for everything, so I never have to worry about any errors.

As in, when I boot up? No. But I do have Windows Update enabled, if that's what you were asking.

Most newer pc's have a recovery partition to boot into. Sorry but this is not what you want to hear but its always a good idea to keep a system image stored on an external drive for when problems arise like this. Windows 7 even tells you this and has its own backup imaging program. Why in the world would you disable Windows Update? Can you open up Windows Update and run it?

I think you misread my comment. I do have it enabled and active.

Yeah, I would truly do backups, but the problem is I'm money tight and don't have the funds to support a drive large enough to do it (right now I'm still using old drives from like 5 years ago, one is 80 GB and another is 200 GB for personal affects/movies/video games.)

Money is no reason when you consider loosing precious memories and photos. Heck you can get a 1TB external drive for $100.

Well I ran the anti-rootkit and antivirus programs you sent me. The doctor found nothing, but the tdsskiller found a threat in c:\windows\system32\drivers\sptd.sys. Is this genuine, or too risky to delete? Or should I delete it anyway?

That usually is a drive related to Alcohol l20 or Daemon Tools.

Hmm. It's clean then, in that case. I guess that doesn't fix anything for me either.

Actually, for some reason, I only have this morning; about 10 minutes before this happened. I've restored to that point and nothing has changed.
