Hi,

The avast! can scan e-mail files? Like Thunderbird email files? (I'm not refering to incoming mail...)

If yes, how?

Are you referring to those 'extensionless' files?
I suppose you must use and * on the open/changed file box of the providers but, unfortunatelly, I'm not sure  :-\

I'm refering to On-Demand scanning of my email folder...

The avast! didn't detect infected emails that I sent...

Which are the extenisions of that files? I mean, the mail files.
Did you try to use the * on the open/changed file box of the providers? or use the High sensibility level and run an on-demand scanning?

In On-Demand scanner I only can select to "Thorough Scan" with "Scan archive files".
How can I define what you said in On-Demand scanner?

Some files doesn't have extension, others have '*.msf' and the backup file are '.pcv'.

I made a scan with the Panda Online and he detect that virus...

If you want to customize them, well, just go to Scanner (Advanced) tab of settings. You'll see the box for 'open' files and the one for 'created/modified'  ;)

I understand. You mean that the all the components of avast! will be setting by Standard Shield...

This reply to my question of my last reply on this Topic: About SMTP/POP3/IMAP4 scanner

The avast! should have a much better GUI and configuration...

I already said many times that the GUI of avast! should be more user friendly, have all the options available for we don't have to edit the 'avast4.ini' file...
I like this AV, but not the GUI and options...

But this is my opinion, if you have another...

VaMPiRiC, you're the other half correct.  ;)

avast! settings interface could be better.
But it's not that bad. If you don't want to learn it, don't change it, avast! is one of the best (better, the most) configurable antivirus round. It's not a program that you can only set 'on' and 'off' like tons of others. It's natural that the user could have some difficulty. So, we are here  ;)

But try to understand me, I use the NOD32 and this AV as an excellent configuration and very easy to use...

I only want the best for avast! ;)

I don't need to try because I understand you...
I'm now working in more than 90 tweaks of avast4.ini file so... I think NOD32 is very far behind avast in kind of configuration... Oh, NOD32 is not free :P

We are all talking the same and understanding each other  8)
